What We Do

America Succeeds is the nation’s leading force for mobilizing the business sector to improve schools. The business community has the obligation, opportunity, and capacity to transform the public education system.

The Business Voice

America Succeeds is the nation’s leading force for mobilizing the business sector to improve schools. The business community has the obligation, opportunity, and capacity to transform the public education system.

Student performance has not kept up with the demands of a 21st Century workforce, and as a result, more than half of U.S. millennials lack proficiency when it comes to applying reading and math skills in the workplace. This calls for engaging business leaders in state-level education policy and advocacy. By leveraging the power and influence of employers, we work tirelessly to ensure all students are prepared to succeed in a competitive global economy.

Recent Work

Each America Succeeds affiliate is a lean (2-5 staff members), stand-alone, independent organization, financially and operationally. This structure reflects our belief in the importance of change happening organically at the state level. Although our affiliates function autonomously, they all share a common set of core business principles and a commitment to preparing students to compete in our global economy.

Without America Succeeds, our affiliates would be disconnected from one other. Experience and expertise would go unshared and underutilized. By connecting our state affiliates, America Succeeds generates systems-level impact from the bottom up. Think “Intel Inside”: like the computer chip provides processing capacity, we power the systems that fuel local success.

Our work is comprised of three key phases: (1) starting something from nothing, (2) planning your route & marshaling your resources, and (3) providing tools & support to make you successful. Each phase includes support in governance & operations, strategic planning, education policy & advocacy, membership & fundraising, and communications.
