Zachary T. Neumeyer
Cofounder & Executive Board Chair
Zachary T. Neumeyer is a businessman and civic leader. In business, he serves as the Chairman of Sage Hospitality and Vice Chair of Mobile Accord. He is or has been an investor and board member of companies in the technology, communications, manufacturing, senior housing, banking, and service industries. He works on education reform in Colorado and nationally. Sage Hospitality has invested over $2.5 billion in hospitality assets and manages 75 hotels across America, employing over 7,500 people.
Mr. Neumeyer has focused his civic activities on education reform, working to ensure that every child in America has access to an excellent education to achieve their potential. Mr. Neumeyer is Founding Board Chair of Teach For America Colorado, serves on the TFA National Council, and is Founder and past Board Chair of Colorado Succeeds. He is Co-Founder of America Succeeds, a board member of Colorado Children’s Campaign, and an active supporter of the Charter School Growth Fund. Mr. Neumeyer has served on behalf of numerous state commissions and councils of Colorado Governor’s Hickenlooper, Ritter, and Owens. Mr. Neumeyer has been actively involved in early childhood development as a philanthropist and leader. Mr. Neumeyer was one of the founders of the Denver PreSchool Program, and was recognized by the Colorado Children’s Campaign as one of the 20 most influential Coloradans for Children’s welfare.
Mr. Neumeyer is a past trustee of the University of Denver and has taught or lectured at Cornell University, University of Colorado, Harvard University and The University of Denver. He is a graduate of Cornell University, and lives in Colorado with his wife Amy. He and Amy are the proud parents of sons Max and Joseph.

Kevin Hall is an education innovator and thought leader. He serves as President & CEO of the Charter School Growth Fund. He joined the enterprise in July 2009 to lead CSGF through the process of developing its new strategic plan, refining its investment strategies and launching Fund II. Before joining CSGF, Mr. Hall served as the Chief Operating Officer of The Broad Foundation for several years, where he led various aspects of the Foundation’s grant investment strategy and work. Prior to Broad, he was a Co-Founder and ran business development for Chancellor Beacon Academies, a manager of charter and private schools across the U.S. Previously, Mr. Hall ran a division of infoUSA, and worked at McKinsey & Co., Goldman, Sachs & Co., and Teach For America. Mr. Hall was an elementary school teacher and teaching fellow at Harvard University, and earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and B.A. from Swarthmore College.

Mike Johnston represents Northeast Denver in the Colorado State Senate and serves as a Policy Advisor to New Leaders for New Schools. Mike entered education as a high school English teacher in Greenville, Mississippi, which led him to write his acclaimed book, ”In the Deep Heart’s Core.” After leaving Mississippi, Mike co-founded New Leaders for New Schools, a national non-profit that recruits and trains urban principals. Mike started his own career as a principal of two Colorado alternative high schools serving students held in state custody or living in group homes and detention centers. Most recently, Mike was the Co-Founder and principal of MESA, a redesigned urban high school in the Mapleton Public Schools that made Colorado history by becoming the first public high school in which 100 percent of seniors were admitted to four-year colleges.
He has been an adjunct Professor of Education Law at the University of Denver and has served as an advisor to state and federal political campaigns around the country, most recently as a top education advisor to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and transition. Recently named to Time Magazine’s ”40 Under 40″ and Forbes Magazine’s list of the “7 Most Powerful Educators,” Mike holds degrees from Yale College, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and the Yale Law School. He sits on the board of many local and national organizations, including the “I Have a Dream” Foundation and the Urban League. He lives in Northeast Denver with his wife Courtney, their two sons Emmet and Seamus, and their new baby girl Ava.
Lisa Graham Keegan

Lisa Graham Keegan has spent 12 years as Principal Partner at the Keegan Company, where she leads numerous projects, writes, and speaks on critical issues and emerging excellence in American education. Keegan’s expertise and outspoken nature have made her a sought after education reform expert, who has worked with national education leaders, the media, U.S. Congress, state legislative bodies, business groups, policy organizations, community groups, and the education industry. She currently serves as a Senior Advisor to National School Choice Week, an annual public awareness campaign to advance excellent choices in education; and as Executive Director of A for Arizona, a joint project of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber.
Mrs. Keegan spent a decade serving as an Arizona state official, advancing clear and challenging academic standards gauged by publicly transparent assessments, and fighting successfully for the implementation of school choice, including Arizona’s landmark charter school and tuition tax credit laws.
Mrs. Keegan serves as National Chairman of The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility Advisory Board, as Board Chairman for the National Association for Charter School Authorizers, and as a board member for Teach For America/Phoenix, the Arizona Charter Schools Association, Science Foundation Arizona, Venture Academies in Minneapolis, and the Diversity Leadership Institute in Washington, DC.
Mrs. Keegan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in human language from Stanford University, and a master’s degree in communications disorders from Arizona State University. Keegan lives in Peoria with her husband. They are members of the Arizona Episcopal Diocese, and have five children and two grandsons.

Tony Lewis over the last decade has helped push for innovative and high performing schools, introduced healthy food for students and worked to reform the state’s school finance system. Prior to the Donnell-Kay Foundation, he was Director of Capital Planning and Director of Development with the Colorado Outward Bound School, an experience he says shaped his approach to the world. Tony sits on a number of boards and advisory boards, including the governor-appointed Charter School Institute board, the University of Colorado at Denver’s School of Public Affairs, Facing History and Ourselves, dZi Foundation, Get Smart Schools and Venture Prep.
He also has a passion for science and the environment; Tony has served as a Program Specialist for the Environmental Protection Agency in San Francisco, where he was in charge of policy, planning and implementation of wetland regulations in the Central Valley and northern California. He also earned his B.S. in forest management science from Colorado State University, and holds a master’s degree in international studies from the University of Denver.
A Colorado native, Tony lives south of Lyons, Colorado, with his family, honeybees, and chickens. He’s a climber at heart and leads a couple of foreign excursions a year, along with his personal ice, rock, and mountain climbing trips.

Gregory L. Moore serves as the Hearst Visiting Professor of Professional Practice in the College of Media, Communication and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Greg Moore served as editor of the Denver Post from 2002 to 2016. He joined The Post after 16 years at The Boston Globe, the last eight as managing editor. Under his leadership, The Denver Post won four consecutive Pulitzer Prizes — — the 2013 Pulitzer for Breaking News, the 2012 Pulitzer for Feature Photography, the 2011 Pulitzer for Editorial Cartooning and the 2010 Pulitzer for Feature Photography. The newspaper has been a Pulitzer finalist five other times during his tenure.
Greg is a 1976 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and worked in Dayton, Ohio and his hometown of Cleveland, where he began his editing career, before working in Boston. In 2013, Moore received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and in 2012 he was awarded the Benjamin C. Bradlee Editor of the Year Award from The National Press Foundation.
He has served on the boards of NABJ and the American Society of Newspaper Editors. He was a member of the Pulitzer Prize Board for nine years and the last year co-chaired the board with Thomas Friedman, columnist for The New York Times. He is serving his second stint on the board of trustees of Ohio Wesleyan.
Greg resides in Golden, Colorado with his wife and two daughters.
C. Tim Taylor

Tim Taylor is the co-founder and Executive Director of America Succeeds, bringing a unique background of executive, nonprofit, and public policy experience to the organization. Prior to launching America Succeeds, he served as the founding President of Colorado Succeeds.
Tim began his career on Capitol Hill as a Senior Legislative Assistant to Congressman Saxby Chambliss (GA). After relocating to Colorado in 1998, he served as an independent political consultant, Director of Public Relations and Government Affairs for the Colorado Health Care Association, and founder of Open Fairways—a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk and underprivileged children through the game of golf and its core values of honor, etiquette, and respect.
Tim is chairman of the board of directors for the Policy Innovators in Education (PIE) Network and serves on the advisory board of Highline Academy Charter School. He is a fellow of the 14th class of the Aspen- Pahara Education Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
Tim is a graduate of Randolph-Macon College in Virginia and earned a Masters degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University. He lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife Clare, son Macon, daughter Ellie and a Boykin Spaniel. Contact Tim
Jason Gaulden is the Communications Director of America Succeeds, responsible for providing communications, fundraising, and operational support to the home office and affiliates.
He is also the Founder and Principal at Gaulden Group LLC, a consulting firm specializing in strategy, communications, and fundraising services to public and private institutions. Jason draws upon fifteen years of professional experience in varying roles: executive leadership, philanthropy, marketing, technical writing, fund development, and nonprofit board service.
Prior to independent consulting, Jason served as the Program Officer for Education at Daniels Fund, one of the largest foundations in the Rocky Mountain West. Previously, he was a Senior Fellow at El Pomar Foundation, also among the largest philanthropic institutions in the region.
Jason is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology, graduating with honors. He later served two terms as Chair of the University’s Alumni Board. Contact Jason
Vice President for Growth and Strategy
Eric Lerum is the Vice President for Growth and Strategy at America Succeeds, responsible for helping the organization expand its impact and reach as it grows over the next few years, and assisting existing state affiliates to improve their overall effectiveness.
Eric brings deep experience in strategic planning, partnership development, and policy analysis, having advised policymakers and state and organizational leaders for over a decade. Most recently, he led the policy efforts at StudentsFirst as the VP of National Policy, building a team of policy and legislative analysts with expertise across a broad agenda, including teacher quality, school choice, and governance reform. Before StudentsFirst, Eric served as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Mayor for Education for the District of Columbia, where he played a lead role in local school reform efforts, including the mayoral takeover of the school system and D.C.’s successful Race to the Top application. He has also held positions as the Legislative Counsel to the D.C. Council’s education committee and as a Policy Analyst for the D.C. Board of Education.
Eric is a graduate of The Ohio State University and the Washington College of Law at American University, where he developed his passion for public education and youth justice while teaching constitutional literacy to high school students in Washington, D.C. Contact Eric
Lauren Cole is the Project Director of America Succeeds, responsible for coordinating daily operations, project planning, and supporting the home office and affiliates.
A recent graduate of Cornell University, Lauren majored in Development Sociology, minored in both education and business, and graduated with honors. Prior to attending Cornell, she served as a corps member with City Year Boston, where she worked to improve school attendance and literacy, and developed a passion for improving outcomes and opportunities for all students.
